CONTRADA
The traditions
of Siena's Il Palio horse races inspire Contrada
Dinnerware, named for the 17 contrade, or
districts of Siena that compete in this legendary
festival. Dashes of green, gold and spice inside a
gold rim upon handformed shapes evoke the
pageantry of the famous race. Majestically shaped
chargers and footed mugs contribute old world
elegance. Swirling patterns on five very special
accessories, named Contrada Plume, are signed by
Rita Rossi, original creator of the Plume design
more than 20 years ago. The sophisticated mix of
Contrada dashes and Contrada Plume swirls bring
centuries of Italian pageantry to today's tables.

BORGO
ANTICO
Translated 'Old Village',
Borgo Antico is a handpainted Tuscan decor from
the 15th century. Inspired by the ancient belief
that every color has a special meaning, sage
represented the unfolding of Spring after the
close of Winter. Beautifully painted by master
artisans on durable terra bianca (white clay),
this elegant collection exudes the old-world
quality of an Italian aristocrat's home.

UMBRIA
With their
brilliant, handpainted colors, graceful terra
cotta forms, and elegant designs, Umbria patterns
have been a favorite of VIETRI collectors for many
years. |
 |
CREMA
Inspired by
Tuscan peasant pieces from the 1300s, Crema echoes
Italian history and design with a lovely glazed
terra cotta rim that provides textural contrast to
the cream-on-cream surfaces. The simple shapes,
soothing cream color and subtle terra cotta edges
create a statement of quiet elegance.

CIOCCOLATA
Passion and
chocolate go hand in hand, perhaps never more so
than with Cioccolata. Today condsidered one of the
new neutrals in sophisticated decorating, the
creamy semi-sweet brown of Cioccolata is as rich
and luxurious as the much-craved sweet for which
it's named. This is the newest in the Cucina
Fresca family of dinnerware from VIETRI, cherished
by collectors for their soft, warm coloring.

PAPRIKA
The
nine most popular shapes of VIETRI's terra cotta
Cucina Fresca Dinnerware collection come alive in
a spicy paprika and saffron combination for warm
accents on the dinner table and in the home.
Echoing pieces made by Italian peasants in the
1300's, Paprika's hand formed shapes have
simplicity and elegance that appeal to both
contemporary and traditional customers. Pieces are
available as noted incombinations of
paprika/saffron (paprika on the top or inside
surface, saffron on the bottom or outside surface)
or saffron/paprika (saffron on the top or inside
surface, paprika on the bottom or outside
surface).

CUCINA
FRESCA
Meaning
"fresh kitchen," the charming shapes of
this dinnerware offer simple sophistication in
muted cream, saffron and sage. In the 1300s,
peasants used rustic glazes on their hand-thrown
pottery that separated during firing, creating a
deckled terra cotta edge. VIETRI reproduces these
lovely, rustic edges today using clear glazes to
authenticate the peasant pottery used throughout
Tuscany until the 1800s.

FIORO
DI BOSCO
"Flowers of
the Woods" are suggested by simple brush
strokes in rust and green upon softly-shaped cream
surfaces. A flower seems to have fallen upon the
center of each piece while a double vine of green
and rust encircles the rim. Made of high fired
Italian terra cotta, Fiori di Bosco is a refined
floral pattern that appeals to both men and women.

ROSSO
VECCHIO
With its crackled glaze, Rosso Vecchio has us
seeing red--the Italian color of life, love
and passion! Due to the nature of the red
pigment, over time fine crackled lines will
develop in the glaze, adding character and an
aged effect. Hence the name, Rosso Vecchio,
which means "Aged Red," like a fine
Italian wine. Handcrafted of terra cotta and
dishwasher-safe, Rosso Vecchio promises years
of beautiful enjoyment. Making a bold and
sophisticated fashion-color statement, Rosso
Vecchio also exudes comfort and warmth with
its deep, rich hue.

TUSCANY
This isn't
dinnerware, it's ART! Tuscan landscape paintings
upon our whitewashed salad plates and serving
pieces made of high-fired terra cotta recall
favorite memories of hills, villas and fields of
grapes and olive trees. Tuscany's landscape colors
range from rose to cerulean blue, Aegean green to
sienna. The hues, the artistic compositions, the
unique scenes and the joyous mood of this original
dinnerware are all uniquely Tuscan!

BIANCO
The charming, white-glazed shapes, made of
high-fired terra cotta, were originally handmade
in the 1300's by Tuscan peasants. Their rustic
glazes separated during firing showing the terra
cotta at the edges. Using wax and clear glaze,
Italian artisans recreate these lovely, rustic
edges, which add texture, history and character to
the simple white surfaces. Each piece of Bianco
has one-of-a-kind, Old World character as well as
sophisticated simplicity. Bianco appeals to both
traditional and modern tastes.
